Why is it important to frame your art the correct way?
Framing your art the proper way is essential. It ensures the art is properly protected and secure. Part of adequately displaying your artwork is related to its type.
A few things a framer should be aware of before starting are: Is it an original, open or limited edition print? What are we trying to accomplish when framing your art? These things are essential and help determine the recommended framing process and cost.
Remember, you're not framing it for today; you're preserving it for a lifetime!
What is Conservation Framing?
Art is an investment--a legacy that can be passed down to the next generation. Some art requires special handling and care to preserve the integrity and protect the finish. In these circumstances, we provide conservation framing.
This ensures your piece will remain as beautiful as the day you purchased it. The process and special material is detailed below.
A. Acid-free mats. This type of mat prevents yellowing around the edges of your artwork.
B. Acid-free backing or mounting board prevents acid migration and yellowing on the back of your art.
C. Sealing the back of your framed art helps keep moisture out and prevents bugs from entering and living inside the frame.
When your art is conservation framed, everything that touches it is museum quality.
